Multidisciplinary team
Banting Labs is part of a project called Hoop Diabetes, which was born out of the need to improve the quality of life of people with type 1 diabetes, when a close member of the team was diagnosed with the condition.
The project is the result of a long road of research and development, in terms of technology, market research and user knowledge.

At Banting Labs, I transformed the personal experience of a family diabetes diagnosis into a mission to lead innovative strategies to improve the lives of people with the condition, working alongside an exceptional team.
Axel Rico
CTO
I combine my background in electronic and mechanical engineering with experience in innovation and business management to develop advanced technological solutions that connect user needs with research.
Gabriel de la Ossa
Electrical Designer
I lead the development of our innovative technology, bringing a technical perspective in R&D to transform ideas into functional and accessible devices, with the aim of benefiting those who need it most.
Carlos Puig
Medical Director
As a physician specialising in endocrinology and nutrition, at Banting Labs I lead the supervision of clinical studies of our sensor and work as a team to identify and solve unmet needs in glucose monitoring, with the aim of improving the quality of life of people with diabetes.
Lidia Fernández
CMO - Digital Marketing
I bring my experience in Digital Marketing, E-commerce and business management to design innovative strategies that boost Banting Labs’ visibility, strengthening the connection with our community and creating a positive impact on our users.
Josep Molinero

I drive the areas of financing, resource management, legal aspects and information systems, leveraging my experience in large companies and startups to bring a strategic and dynamic vision in sectors such as Life Sciences, Healthcare, TMT, and Banking and Insurance.

I advise on business strategy, financing and market access, bringing over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, angel investor and co-founder of companies in sectors such as SaaS, AI, MedTech and Biotech.
